Oh, y’all. You do my heart good. It was such great stress relief to read through all your encouraging, funny comments on yesterday’s wedding madness post. I even got some fantastically practical tips on preventing a groom’s cake disaster, and I plan on implementing them to their fullest.

Thank you. You rock.

I do have one more request for you praying (and non-praying) folks. Would you pray that it won’t rain? Because it’s supposed to. And the wedding’s outside.

Here’s the deal: the ONLY good thing about planning an outside wedding on July 20 in Atlanta, Texas is that—while the chances of going to the hospital from heatstroke (especially if you’re in a tux) are about 47%—the chances of rain are nil.

Ahem.

So, tomorrow, the high’s like 89, and there’s a 40% chance of rain. It’s raining as I type this. Pure craziness. I just heard a faint sound, and I’m pretty sure it’s the scream of 100 Texas brides who thought they were safe to have an outdoor wedding this weekend.

ANYhoo, rain or no rain, the show will go on, but as a bride who planned and was granted a summer Texas wedding eight years ago, I can definitely identify with Hannah’s less than thrilled feelings about moving the whole shebang inside a church with dark wood paneling and lovely contrasting red velvet pews and blue carpet.

Before I forget…wanna see a sneak peak of my kids’ adorableness? (Duh).

Say it with me: ”Aaaaaaaw.”

And now I have a question for you: my Della-girl has hair down to her tiny little 2 3/4-year-old tooshy. It has lots of natural curl, but I wanted to give it a little more definition—wedding the curls up a bit, if you will.

Any suggestions for the best way to do that with little girls? I don’t want big froofy curls—just smooth long ringlets.

Fire away if you have any thoughts!

And now, it’s off to the races for me, and it’s time for you lovely people to party!

Don’t forget to grab a party button so others can join in the fun (or just include a text link-back).

Oh, and don’t forget to follow along with all these other fun happenings:

  1. So cute! I would just pop Della in front of a tv show and curl her hair in the morning so that it is a little more curlier than you wanted. Add a little bit of hair spray, and hopefully by wedding time they will be a bit softer/natural. I have seen rag curls and curlers work, but I have also seen them go wrong too and have experienced trying to fix kinked curly hair.

  2. Awwwww, your kids are so cute! They look awesome in their wedding garb. I hope that everything wedding related goes smoother than possible. I hope your brother and his bride have an amazing time. I hope that you and the rest of your family have an amazing time and all the details fall into place the way you want them to. For sure you will have great stories to share!

  3. Good Luck with the wedding this weekend! I think that for Della’s hair just a quick run through with a curling iron would make her natural curls look more wedding chic. Either way she is adorable so. . .

  4. I use the sponge curlers in my daughter’s wet hair, and she sleeps on it overnight. (If it’s an afternoon wedding, that might not work so well though.) Then I curl up any stragglers with the curling iron. Good luck!!

  5. Hope the rain will stay at bay! I use a curling wand ( you can get them at walmart or other stores like that for $25) It gives really defined curls that are good for special occasions. The curls last for a long time as well!

  6. Thanks for the great link party. 🙂 I roll my daughters’ hair up with rags to get the pipe curl look, but their hair is straight as a board. Makes cute curls. Love playing with my girls’ hair, if they wouldn’t shriek so much that it hurts. Now if there would be a remedy for that! 🙂

  7. I have very long, naturally curly hair so when I want more defined curls I use the no heat curl method with a headband. I use a soft stretchy ckoth one and wear it kike a sweat band and then gently wrap my dry hair around it after I’ve spritzed it with a spray gel. Google how to videos there. are hundreds of great ones. I saw it first on threeyearsofdeath.blogspot.com

  8. I’m off for a long run and I’ll offer those rain-free prayers then (as a Texas gal, it seems like sacriledge to pray that it doesn’t rain, so maybe I’ll pray for a delay! AFTER THE WEDDING, BOSS!).

  9. Thanks for hosting! Hope all goes well with the wedding. I remember a friend who had long hair in 4th grade. She would sleep in sponge rollers and would have the most beautiful “boing-boing” curls. Your kiddos are adorable!
    Blessings,

  10. I can’t believe your brother’s wedding is here! Seems like just yesterday you were showing the engagement pics! Congrats to him and your whole family! Have an awesome weekend (your sweeties are adorable)!!! XO, AImee

  11. Rag curls or just sprucing up her curls with a curling iron would work great. Or you can try some hot curlers and a little hair net so she doesn’t bop them loose

I love hearing from you guys!
